Saddam Trial
I must say seeing Saddam in a court is something I could never have imagined. Although, I still think that the way he was brought into court was totally careless. To start an unjust war, kill thousands of Iraqi's, creat unstability, and even terrorist training grounds is defenetly not worth it.
Putting that aside, I think we ought to concentrate more on what's happening now. While it's clear Saddam has killed many, it's important to keep in mind that he is a human being like the rest of us, and that he deserves a fair trial. Which brings me to an intruiging argument brought forth by Saddam's defense team.
Rephrased in my words..
"Since the American led invasion on Iraq was illeglal under international law, then all that follows the invasion is also illegal"
The statement is bullet proof. Laws are made for everyone to abide to, with no exceptions. I wonder to what extent the judge will evaluate the argument.

I would be more justified if we ourselves try Saddams and the rest of the mob?? And besides it's not like it was offered to us in the first to deny it. The Americans are trying Saddam in the name of the Iraki ppl, but whom would be better than give Iraqis justice other the Irakis themselves??

it would be totally right if Saddam was a legal president, and if he treated his people in a legal way.
why we are searching only now for justice? were was justice before?
of course i do not support the American domination of Iraq which will obviously lead it to self destruction, but at the same time i don't care about what will happen to him.
a second important point: i don't agree with the Drawing "caricature" at all, most of Arab leaders don't represent the Arab nation.

Sinan, I agree with you.. if Saddam was ever to be trailed, it should have been a consequence of our own actions, not an American invasion.
Jawaher, it seems few of us agree on this topic.
Life for rent, he's certainly not a "regular" human being, but that doesn't mean we should treat him unfairly
Amr, we cannot correct a wrong with a wrong. If justice is served, than Saddam will most likely pay for his actions. All I'm saying is that this trial should not stand grounds in international law. As for the cartoon, it's open to intrepretation, the way you interpreted is different from the way I interpreted it. But I do agree with you that most Arab leaders are not representative of their people.
Sharks, it's quite ironic isn't it? Like I said to Amr, I would like him to get what he deserves, but under this invasion.
The point behind this all, is that if Americans view Saddam's trial as fair, they will have a reason to go into any dictator led country, and "liberate" it from the tyrants that rule it. I personally don't agree with such a system, and therefore I don't agree with the trial. Saddam should be trialed, and punished, but not under these circumstances. If the American led invasion, was approved by the world (UN) then my thoughts towards this trial would be different.
