On Election Fun

Is it just me or is everyone sick of hearing abou the American presidential election? The networks milk any opportunity they get for a decent news story, with all kinds of useless polls and speculations starting two years before Election Day. For all we know Wolf Blitzer has had a permanent hard-on ever since Obama decided to run for president.
And then there are the stupid attacks that candidates launch against each other. I think the most hilarious one is McCain’s attempt at painting Obama as a celebrity. Oooooh, that’s a great one McCain, keep up the good work! I’m still waiting for the “my dad can beat up his dad” campaign from the Republicans. Both candidates will have a very similar foreign policy, especially when it comes to blind support of Israel, and continuing the WAR ON TERRORISM *Tan Tan TAAAAAN*. I like Obama more for his support of stem cell research and for giving two shits about the environment. So based on that, I say Obama for president. Plus, the guy is very clever, articulate, and charismatic… only problem is that he’s a celebrity.

Did I say I was sick of elections? Maybe I haven’t mentioned that just yesterday PM Harper asked the Governor General (The Queen’s Representative in Canada) to dissolve government. And that’s as exciting as the Canadian elections will ever get. Harper is a mini Bush, Dion, the Liberal Leader, is as charismatic as McCain on a bad day, and Layton, the NDP’s leader is a dreamer.

To prove how childish Canadian politicians are, today it was announced that Green Party Leader Elizabeth May is not allowed to take part of the televised leader debate. Why? Because some leaders threatened that if May was allowed in the debate, then they wouldn’t participate. Doesn’t this sound like something 16 year old Caitlin would tell her friend Jen about her birthday party? “Oh my god! If like Michelle is coming to your party, I’m soooo not gonna come!” Exclaimed Caitlin threateningly.

I agree - I'm a little sick of the US elections stories... Although, for a change, I watched the Rally for the Republic speech by Ron Paul. That was something different. I don't agree with A LOT of his views, but I would vote for him just because he's honest.

I'm not sick of it, but then I'm a political junkie. As for your comment about "My dad can beat up your dad," I'd say "My God can beat up your God" is more the tone at this point. It is ridiculous. But that's the U.S., we show all our craziness, good and bad, to the world.

    Nice photo, btw :)

I am really sick of it. I can't stand the fact that Nader doesn't get any media coverage at all. He is the only candidate who cares about Palestine and does not owe any companies or big oil any favors.
