For Every Government There's an Equal and Opposite Government

The image says it best

Newton’s Third Law: for every action there’s an equal and opposite reaction.

It’s a law of nature that Newton happened to explain first. It’s law that applies to much more than physical objects. Rather, at least in my opinion, it applies to all that is natural.

Politics these days is a prime example of the hidden workings of the third law. Let me summarize in point form (in a somewhat chronological order):

- Israel elects right wing government
- The second Intifada begins, with the heightened activity from right wing Hamas and Islamic Jihad
- US elects Bush, who forms the most right wing government in US history
- Islamic terrorists step up their attacks worldwide
- Bush invades Afghanistan and Iraq
- Al Qaeda transforms from an organization to an ideology
- Iraq becomes the new Afghanistan

- Israel continues to violate human rights in the name of fighting terrorism
- Hamas and Islamic Jihad step up with more suicide bombings
- Iran elects a right wing Islamic leader
- US starts a political war against Iran
- Palestinians elect Hamas
- Israel does not like the outcome, and thus punishes Palestinians for practicing their right to vote

This is where we are right now, and the pattern could not be any clearer. Right wing governments in the west, are directly influencing the creation of right wing governments in the east. Western governments don’t like newly elected eastern governments, and hence take oppressive actions against them. Oppressive action leads to terrorism, and we’re back at square one.

The observations discussed so far are not in any way groundbreaking. I’m sure many people have come across them, including government officials. So why then are we heading in this direction? Is there a reason for keeping the Middle East a hot-button issue? What are the benefits of keeping the Middle East unstable?

excellent description for the last 6 years Omar, maybe not groundbreaking but very well put together.. and I guess very clearely shows how blind the general public is to the domino effect they are witnessing daily.... and doing nothing about

yup, i agree....very good subject to discuss...my friend was telling me that a coworker of hers was telling her that he thinks President Bush is doing a great job....she looked at him in surprise. I told her next time, tell him if he removed his face from Bush's ass for just a second and looked around, he would know that this isnt true. but, americans will believe what they want to, and not necessarily what is TRUE.

i wrote an article in response to a columnist in my school paper, and it was published today. basically, he was talking about the charity organization KindHearts in Toledo that was shut down because it supposedly supports Hamas. well, this kid talked about Muslims and Islam, and so i wrote back telling him to educate himself, and u know what he said? that all he needs to know is what the president and the government tells him. how ignorant is that? made me furious! i'm gonna post his article and my response on my site, so be sure to check it out.

I think your timeline is a little skewed. Palestinians may date the Second Intifada from the time Sharon was elected but the history shows that terrorism had increased substantially in Israel prior to Sharon being elected. In fact it is this feeling on insecurity which was one of the primary reasons Sharon was elected.

I could dispute other points you have made here, but I will address only the primary one:

In your article you seem to imply that the West has an interest in keeping the Middle East unstable. I cannot agree with this. Economically it makes no sense for the Mid-East to remain unstable from a Western perspective. It is interesting that Muslims (and the Left) blame the West for instability in the Middle East, on the one hand, and for support repressive (but very stable) regimes on the other.

I think you place far too much emphasis on the power the West has to influence the Muslim world. If you want to know why the Middle East is so unstable you would do better to look at internal factors in particular countries and religious and cultural factors found in the Muslim world in general.

yes, anonymous....but u have to admit that the West DOES play a part in the unstability of the Middle East...they may not contribute all of it, but they help push it along.

Some good points tarnished by a frankly disgusting apology to Osama bin laden.
With the disturbing facts of the middle east conflict it is easy to see why some vulnerable individuals are motivated to take up arms, however anyone who thinks Bin laden is anything but a spoilt war monger playing out a rich boys childhood fantasy, using the people he claims to be protecting as puppets in this sick drama, are quite frankly dillusional. There are many people who may be owed an apology (including every arab and non arab killed in the ongoing conflict, and the families of everyone killed in 911), but Osama Bin laden is certainly not one of them.

I don't like the BS about "Sorry Osama". You should be ashamed of yourself. Nothing could have been a valid excuse for 9/11.

Sorry Osama?! I am truly saddened over how misguided you and millions of other people are over these issues.

You want to know the real enemy here? Organized religion pure and simple. That includes both the Christian, Islamic, and Judaism faiths. I can not fathom how any person with a truly spiritual understanding could claim hatred and instigate war against other human beings in the name of their "God". The Supreme Being whoever that may be is likely look down on us in utter disgust appalled by our incomprehension of what it truly mean to be spiritual and love your fellow man....you should be ashamed of yourself.

okay.... im a little thrown off by your osama pic too... I'm Muslim (as in practicing.. not just in name wal7amdulilah), I'm half Saudi (my dads Saudi), and i'm half American (my moms from Connecticut).... so i can see it from all view points, and no matter which way you look at it... The 9/11 attacks were of no benefit to anyone, are not justifiable in anyway, and should not, be at all costs, associated with Islam in anyway.

on a lighter note... i like the idea of the pictures of the drawings... the content is somewhat questionable though.
