yeah, i've seen that before. kind of sad that it was written by women for women. no real man wants a maid/slave for a wife....at least i hope not :(
my opinion is that if a woman is to do all the housework and cook, it should be out of love and mutual respect between hubby and wifey, and not because it's her place and her husband told her to do so. if i love my husband and he loves me and treats me well, i wouldn't mind cooking for him, but it shouldn't be an automatic expectation...

Do you think things will change this dramatically for women in the Arab world in the next 50 years? Are prospects for change looking good or is progress stagnant?

I agree queenie, nothing should imposed on women or men. Responsibilities should shift according to time, job, etc.
Jameed, have you shown your wife this? you never know, she might change her mind.
Anonymous, things have been changing dramaticaly for women in the middle east, and will continue to change. It is now an expectation than women are educated. Women have a say in who they want to marry (things 50 years ago were very different).
It would be interesting to pose your question to blog readers through a post. I'm curious to see whether other arabs share my views

yea...i've seen this...the Arab guys at my campus always show it to me to irritate me cuz they know how i feel about women serving men....i'm just glad i was born in a more modern time!

lol... omg!!.. i can not believe that women got treated like this back then!!!... i'm sooo very glad times have changed!!.. hahaha... i'm 15 and need to study about this for my drama coursework!!... it's interesting to find these things out!!!.. so educational!!... o well!!!

Very much thinks people don't look at this in the riight way, this is very much where having a good partner comes into play, I think to an extent this totally works
